What’s the point of the bath if you don’t relax and feel yourself? Making your bath time extra relaxing requires some effort. A year back, I searched for ways to soak my body and relax my muscles.
Well, if you don’t know, don't worry. It’s not a hard nut to crack. We will find some cool ways to make your bath time extra calming. This blog post will provide the coolest and easiest recipe for making lush bath bombs.
Heads down, and let’s get into the topic.
Creating bath bombs is a fun way to make magical potions for your bath time. To make your bathtime more relaxing and fun. But the fun part? You can make your bath bomb using some home ingredients. Let’s discuss in detail how to make your own BathBomb.
One of the coolest things about creating my body care products is how much I can personalize them. For example, we used lavender in this recipe for a relaxing vibe, but many other options exist. If you want something refreshing, try Eucalyptus. Or, for a more grounded feel, go for scents like frankincense, patchouli, or white fir.
If you are into a forest vibe, woody scents are perfect. After an exhausting day, there’s nothing like soaking in the tub, and that too made by you for yourself.
When it comes to making bath bombs, it’s not only about scents; it’s about giving your body extra moist care. You can use sweet oil because it smells great and softens your skin. But you know there are other options, like olive oil, coconut oil, or apricot oil.
The best part? These oils not only make your bath bombs smell amazing but also leave your skin smooth and hydrated. It’s like having a spa right in your bathroom.
You have many options for adding salts to your bath bombs. Regular sea salts work fine, but if you want to add a fancy touch, Himalayan salt or Epsom salt can take your bath to the next level. Himalayan salt is pretty in pink and has detoxifying properties that refresh your skin. On the other hand, Epsom salt is known for soothing tiring muscles and making it a perfect post-workout regime.
So, whether you are in the mood for a simple, spa-like experience, choosing the right salt can change your bath bomb game, and you feel pampered from head to toe.
To make a bath bomb, you will need the following things.
The next ingredient that works great in making both bombs is baking soda. This powder creates that fun bubbling action when it meets water and helps your bath bomb pop. You can discover more about its uses. With baking soda on hand, you're on your way to making bath time super fun.
Citric acid is important for making bath bombs. It just gives that cool chemical reaction when your bomb hits the water. Citric acid is found naturally in fruits like lemons and oranges. I've linked a Wikipedia page if you want to learn more about it. I’ve been using a particular brand because I haven’t found a big pack yet, but it works great.
You can use Arrowroot to keep your bath bombs in shape when they hit the water. But if you don’t have an arrowroot at home. Worry not; you can use cornstarch as well. It works the same but is quite affordable.
Witch hazel is the most essential ingredient in your bath bomb. It binds all the products together. You can gather things here to shape your bath bomb.
Now that we know what ingredients to use to make lush bath bombs, we can follow the recipe.
First, we need a container to make the bath bombs. You can use ice moulds. But I went a little above and beyond to get these marvellous moulds. But here are some other options;
The old silicon ice tray
Muffin molds
Now that you have the container of your choice, take each ingredient in the following quantity and let the magic begin;
Take 1 cup of baking soda
Half a cup of Citric acid
Half a cup of Himalayan salt
Half a cup of Arrowroot
2 tsp Witch hazel
20 drops of Frankincense
45 drops of lavender
1 tsp of almond extract (optional)
Dried lavender flowers (optional)
Interesting Information: Frankincense has antibacterial properties that soothe the skin, and lavender destresses the body. So you’ll get a deep bath that every inch of your body will thank you for.
When the container is sorted, and the ingredients are ready. It’s time to mix them properly to make the magical bath bombs.
Mix baking soda, citric acid, Himalayan salt, and Arrowroot in a medium-sized bowl.
In another bowl, mix the almond oil and extracts. When properly mixed, add essential oils and stir well.
Pour this mixture and mix using a spatula. For better results, put on gloves and mix with your hands. You can also add lavender extract for a sweet smell.
Once the powder becomes a paste, freeze it in moulds for about 24 hours. Then, put the balls at room temperature to make them hard.
Store ideally in a sealed container to avoid losing the smell, and enjoy within 2/3 weeks.
Citric acid, along with Sodium bicarbonate, makes explosive bath bombs. When it reacts with water, it makes carbon dioxide, which causes fizzing. You can add essential oils, herbs, scents, and colours to make a unique fragrance.
You need three main ingredients to make the bath bombs.
Take baking soda (not baking powder) to make bubbles and fumes in water
